The Second Ministerial Conference on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific took place from 16 to 19 November 2021. A core description of the topics of the conference can be found here.
The COVID-19 crisis shed light on the need for resilient civil registration systems which would be reflected in the new programme for the Conference. A report on the situation of CRVS in the region at the midterm of the Decade was published, as well as papers exploring different aspects of CRVS. Side-events were occurred in the build-up to inform stakeholders and leave space and time for discussions on how to best address remaining challenges to achieving the CRVS Decade goals and targets. The content of the different sessions held, was discussed at Regional Steering Group meetings, and partners and countries to ensure maximal participation to the Conference.
