The Second Ministerial Conference on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific, bound to happen in October 2020, has been adjourned to 2021. The uncertainty of the situation and the important number of delegations expected at such an event did not offer enough guarantee to plan and organize it in time.
The alternative process and timeline for the organization of this Ministerial Conference are still under discussion. Partner organizations and countries are trying to find the best way to keep the momentum around CRVS going, especially considering how the current crisis has shed light on the need for resilient civil registration systems.
Some documents' publication and meetings are still expected to occur in the build-up, to inform stakeholders and leave space and time for discussions on how to best address the challenges remaining to achieve the CRVS Decade goals and targets.
