UN Statistics Division is organising a workshop on the Operation of Civil Registration, Vital Statistics and Identity Management Systems in East Asian countries from 13-17 November in Hanoi. Discussions will focus on the revised Handbook on Management (which will be finalized by September) and the new Guidelines for Evaluation (which will be finalized by the end of the year).

The event follows up on previous workshops which have concentrated on the implementation of the Principles and Recommendations for a Vital Statistics System, Rev.3. It is also part of a series of workshops being conducted worldwide in conjunction with relevant regional partners which aim to strengthen technical capacity for improving national CRVS systems.

Countries which have been invited to attend include:  Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam.
