    The Ministerial Declaration on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific emphasizes the need to address CRVS inequalities among hard-to-reach and marginalized populations, promoting universality and equity in civil registration regardless of factors such as gender, religion, or ethnicity. Countries are encouraged to conduct assessments to assess where such inequalities may exist.

  • Asia-Pacific Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Research Forum

    The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) organized the first Asia-Pacific CRVS Research Forum which was held from 3-4 April 2023. Hosted by ESCAP in Bangkok, the fully online event offered a major research, information sharing, and capacity-building opportunity for participants. They were able to present at and attend paper presentations and interactive sessions, including networking opportunities.

Asia-Pacific CRVS Research Forum

ESCAP and Bloomberg Philanthropies, as part of ‘Getting everyone in the picture: Strengthening civil registration and vital statistics systems in Asia and the Pacific’ (Data 4 Health Initiative), welcomes the submission of abstracts for the first Asia-Pacific CRVS Research Forum to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 20-21 April 2023.

D4H CRVS budget advocacy and strategy development workshop in the Maldives

Global Health Advocacy Incubator’s (GHAI) Data for Health Team, co-hosted a week of civil registration and vital statistics consultations in the Maldives with partners from Vital Strategies, Imagine Law and UNESCAP.  The first two days of the workshop which were led by Imagine Law, focused on legal review and reform of the CRVS system, engaging CRVS stakeholders in discussions on a draft CRVS bill for Maldives.  The remaining two days of the workshop focused on CRVS budget advocacy and leveraging domestic financing to
