Second Workshop of the Project to Strengthen the National Capacity in Producing and Disseminating Vital Statistics from Civil Registration Records in Asia and the Pacific

Event Details

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), with support from the Bloomberg Data for Health Initiative (D4H), is holding the second workshop of the project to improve the capacity of national Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems in the production and dissemination of vital statistics. The project supports the implementation of the Regional Action Framework on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific, in particular Goal 3 which stipulates that accurate, complete and timely vital statistics (including on causes of death) are produced based on registration records and are disseminated.

This multi-phased project consists of two sequential training workshops running between December 2016 and March 2017 and technical support provided throughout the project timeframe. The stepwise phases will lead to concrete set of outputs that culminate into the final output, a complete national vital statistics report. The workshops will provide member States with the essential methods and tools to produce these reports. Technical support will complement the workshops through country specific assistance. The project is designed to benefit countries at various stages of development in civil registration and vital statistics.
