CART Cohort 2 launched
TAGS

At the start of February 2025, the second cohort of the CRVS Applied Research Training (CART) initiative was successfully launched on February 3. The session introduced the initiative and training modalities to a new group of 63 participants, 41 from ESCAP countries and 22 from ECA countries. The CART assists practitioners from civil registration authorities, government agencies, national statistical offices, and civil society in conducting independent research on their CRVS systems or utilizing CRVS data, with the goal of bringing their research to a publishable state.

The second cohort's research project covers key themes essential for strengthening CRVS systems, including system improvements, promoting equity in registration services, enhancing the quality of cause-of-death data or certification, and evaluating CRVS activities. The expansion of this cohort highlights the increasing interest in CRVS research and underscores the initiative's vital role in building research capacity to strengthen CRVS in the ESCAP and ECA region.
