The Centre of Excellence for CRVS systems at UNFPA, in partnership with UNICEF, will co-host the 3rd CRVS and Gender Global Conference — titled “Empowering women, saving lives - Strengthening CRVS Systems” — on 17-18 October in New York at UNFPA headquarters. This conference builds on the second conference held in February 2020 in Ottawa.
The program committee is pleased to announce an open call for scientific posters for inclusion in a dedicated poster session for early-career practitioners, researchers, CRVS and identity management system program managers, advocates, and stakeholders. Accepted posters from individuals based in low- and middle-income countries will be eligible for a limited number of travel grants (covering economy class round trip travel to New York and daily subsistence allowance for the period of the conference).
The call for scientific posters is now open and will close at 5pm Eastern Time on August 31, 2022. Acceptance decisions for poster submissions will be made by September 2, 2022, and all submitting authors contacted during the week of September 3, 2022. All poster abstract submissions should be submitted here before 5pm Eastern Time on August 31, 2022.
The aim of the Conference is to engage with key stakeholders on gender and CRVS - including researchers, practitioners, decision makers and policy advocates - to ensure that everyone, in particular women and children, is registered, certified and counted by 2030. More specifically, the conference aims to:
1. Assess developments on gender and CRVS since 2020 Conference in Ottawa, including the impact of Covid-19
2. Highlight the value of CRVS data for tracking gender inequalities at national, regional, and global levels
3. Showcase and advance practices to strengthen gender-responsive CRVS systems to advance the 2030 agenda, and in particular SDG3 and SDG5 and commitments “Leave No One Behind”
4. Identify research/evidence and practice gaps at the intersection of CRVS and Gender that require further prioritization now through to 2030.
5. Advance community of practice around gender and CRVS, including nurturing a new generation of CRVS practitioners.
