Event Details
The Regional Steering Group is responsible for overseeing and steering the implementation of the Regional Action Framework on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific, also acting as the custodian of the Asia and Pacific CRVS Decade (2015 - 2024).
With 22 representatives from member states and 8 development partners, the 30 members of the RSG encompass diverse regions and sectors including civil registration, statistics, health and planning, and was endorsed by the ESCAP Commission at its seventy-first session in May 2015. The group has met annually since its establishment in 2015 and will do so for a sixth time on the 8 and 9 December 2020, in a virtual meeting.
The topics discussed during the meeting will include general knowledge sharing on the continuation of CRVS during COVID-19 as well as discussions of the findings from the midterm review of the CRVS Decade. In preparation of the Second Ministerial Conference on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific to take place in November 2021, discussions will also be held on the concept notes and plans for the sessions of the conference.
