The Ministerial Declaration on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific emphasizes the need to address CRVS inequalities among hard-to-reach and marginalized populations, promoting universality and equity in civil registration regardless of factors such as gender, religion, or ethnicity. Countries are encouraged to conduct assessments to assess where such inequalities may exist.

The first cohort of the CRVS applied research training (CART) initiative has launched with 38 participants from Asia-Pacific and Africa.
ESCAP, together with Vital Strategies, World Bank, and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are hosting a side event of the 80th Commission for ESCAP on "Digitalization as a key enabler to get every one in the picture".
Second National Capacity Building Workshop for the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Inequality Assessment Project, 23-25 January 2024, at Sequoia Hotel Quezon City, in Philippines.
The closing workshop will bring together a variety of stakeholders engaged in the Bangladesh CRVS system. Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) will present and share findings in inequalities in birth registration from the first and second national capacity building workshops. Stakeholders will have the opportunity to discuss the findings, ask questions, as well as discuss policy implications and next steps to ensure disparities in registration are addressed.
