UNHCR, in collaboration with the Organization of American States, has published a report on "Emergency response by civil registry and identification offices during the COVID-19 pandemic: Impact, best practices and innovative initiatives implemented in Latin America and the Caribbean".

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed many challenges to the proper functioning of CRVS systems, while making the delivery of social services and the production of vital statistics it allows even more critical. As such, monitoring the effects it has had on those services is essential to build more resilient systems. This attention is of special important for the marginalized populations, among them those in human mobility situations.
