Event Details
This workshop is organized by World Vision, and it aims to contribute towards improving the awareness and capacity of stakeholders in Asia Pacific to apply information management in DRM decision-making. It is in fact the culmination of a series of awareness-raising workshops started in September 2016 through March 2017 held in Myanmar, Philippines and Solomon Islands. Throughout this process, World Vision worked with response leaders in governments, INGO community (including ADRA, Care, Caritas, Oxfam (co-organizer in Solomon Islands), NORCAP, Plan and Save the Children) and industry technical specialists to explore how to increase the use of information management in preparedness and response work. The key findings and experience will be used in Bangkok workshop.
The Bangkok workshop will provide a platform for representatives of governments, UN agencies, NGOs, industry specialists and private sector to exchange views and experience on how information management impact response work and decision-making. Apart from having technical specialists show-casing available information platform and technology, it will also be an opportunity for participants to share and discuss its practical applications and success stories. In addition to the opportunity of interacting with stakeholders and experts on an emerging trend, we will launch a publication titled “Using Information Management in Preparedness and Response: Making Timely and Relevant Decisions”. A result of months of research as well as discussions with experts and response managers, the publication will contribute to humanitarian community by providing the latest information management concepts, approaches and tools from the angle of response managers.
