This is the report on the Regional Steering Group for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific on its 2nd meeting, held on 6 and 7 September 2016, prepared with the guidance of the Regional Steering Group and presented to the Fifth Committee on Statistics. The report contains a number of recommended actions for the statistical community to take to strengthen the implementation of the Regional Action Framework on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific in view of the varying levels of progress made at the country level across the region towards the achievement of the vision of the Asian and Pacific Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Decade, 2015-2024.
The Committee on Statistics was invited to take note of the outcomes of the Regional Steering Group’s 2nd meeting and to provide guidance to the statistical community on implementing the recommendations of the Regional Steering Group. The Committee was also invited to express its views on the role and responsibilities of statisticians in achieving the goals defined in the Regional Action Framework.
