28-30 November 2017, the Pacific Community (SPC) will be hosting a review/“train the trainers” meeting in Fiji on cause of death certification with the support of BAG partners. The meeting recognises the need to build stronger regional capacity in training and supporting doctors as well as the importance of recognising the broader set of influences, aside from simply knowledge of the certification process, that influence how doctors complete this paperwork. The meeting will bring together doctors from across the region with selected HIS staff, agency partners and university partners to examine how medical certification is taught, the material and training support currently available, and the key topics that need to be addressed in national training updates.
