74th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific

Event Details

The seventy-fourth session of the Commission will be held from 11 to 16 May 2018 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok. The session will be comprised of the senior officials segment, which will be held from 11 May to 13 May, and the ministerial segment 14 May to 16 May.

Theme Topic: Inequality in the era of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The adoption of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have raised new opportunities to address the issue of inequality of income and of opportunities. With a pledge that no one would be left behind, the SDGs include a stand-alone goal to reduce inequality within and among countries. This study seeks to analyse key trends and disentangle various underlying and emerging drivers of rising inequalities in Asia and the Pacific. It aims to produce policy lessons that may help build more inclusive and equitable societies in the regio
