The first national capacity building workshop on implementing CRVS inequality assessments and strengthening demographic capacity in Samoa, took place from 5 to 6 June 2023, in Apia, Samoa. 

The inequality assessment project seeks to provide technical support and capacity strengthening to the Samoa Bureau of Statistics and other relevant national stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of CRVS inequality assessments using secondary data sources in Samoa.

The first national capacity building workshop examined data from the recent Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS), 2019-20 to assess inequalities in birth registration.  The workshop involved a combination of theoretical presentations and participatory practical exercises to strengthen skills in analyzing MICS data. 

The second national capacity building workshop is scheduled to take place from 23-25 October 2023, in Apia, Samoa.
