The third CR8 meeting was jointly organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia (UNICEF-ROSA), and hosted by the Office of the Registrar General, Local Government Division, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, from 6 to 8 June 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

This section provides details on feedback on the forum based on the evaluation responses submitted by the participants. 57 participants responded to the evaluation survey. Figures 4 to 6 show how satisfied the participants were with the overall organization of the forum. Figures 7 to 9 reflect participants’ views on the outcome and learning achieved through the forum, along with other comments and suggestions.
The 2023 Asia-Pacific Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) research forum was held as a virtual event from 3 to 4 April 2023 in seven sessions, which included 24 presentations under 5 research themes, 6 key-note speeches and 4 interactive sessions. It aimed to offer a major research, information sharing, capacity-building, and networking opportunity for participants who attended and presented at the forum.
Birth registration is a fundamental right, recognized by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and often forms the basis for the achievement of many other rights, including, but not limited to, the right to health and the right to education. Birth registration and related information are also key in ensuring effective development planning which benefits all, especially in a country like Samoa which remains increasingly vulnerable to disasters.
This publication is for international development practitioners, both in programme and ICT divisions, who wish to understand and implement digitalised civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) programmes. These findings highlight a selection of CRVS platforms. The platforms were selected after an extensive market survey of existing CRVS offerings. Conducted by UNICEF, the review assessed the functional and nonfunctional aspects, as well as maturity, of CRVS products. This publication is relevant to UN, government, and NGO actors.
This guide is essential for UNDP Country Offices requested, by host governments, to assist in the development of data protection and privacy legislation. It analyses key themes and principles in data protection law and practice, via contrasting how all the the major themes in data protection and privacy law and institutional frameworks are addressed in the major regional data protection and privacy frameworks around the world, including, among others, the AU, OAS, EU, CARICOM and ASEAN.
