• Asia-Pacific Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Research Forum

    The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will organize the first Asia-Pacific CRVS Research Forum to be held from 3 – 4 April 2023. Hosted by ESCAP in Bangkok, this fully online event offers a major research, information sharing, and capacity-building opportunity for participants, who will be able to present at and attend paper presentations and interactive sessions, including networking opportunities.

  • Second Ministerial Conference on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific

    The Second Ministerial Conference on CRVS took place from the 16th to 19th November, 2021. It has been the occasion to celebrate progress through the CRVS Decade (2015-2024), identify remaining challenges, emphasize CRVS for sustainable development and promote CRVS as the foundation for legal identity.

    The current pandemic is disrupting CRVS systems all over the world, but also highlighting why well-functioning systems are more essential than ever. As a result, the UN Statistics Division, the World Health Organization and the UN Legal Identity Agenda Task Force developed COVID-19 resources offering guidance for civil registration stakeholders on maintaining CRVS activities.

ID for Inclusive Service Delivery and Digital Transformation in Indonesia

A new World Bank project aims to strengthen population and civil registration and increase usage of digital identification to improve delivery and accessibility of selected public and private sector services for all Indonesians.

The Project is organized into five components that together form a comprehensive, integrated, and forward-looking approach for achieving the PDO (Project Development Objective):

  • Improved access to and efficiency of population and civil registration

  • Modern, scalable and secure ICT infrastructure

Webinar on regional cause-of-death training and ICD-11

The Pacific Community (SPC) in collaboration with Brisbane Accord Group (BAG) partners will be running workshops for Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs) on medical certification of cause of death (MCCD) and ICD mortality coding. The workshops will also provide guidance on the new version of ICD (ICD-11). These workshops will be implemented under the Pacific Islands Regional Programme on Strengthening the Availability and Quality of Causes of Death Data supported by the Bloomberg Philanthropies Data for Health Initiative.

Second National Capacity Building Workshop for Assessing Inequalities in Civil Registration (Suva, Fiji)

A multi-stakeholder group of approximately 20 participants from Fiji Bureau of Statistics, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Health and Medical Services convened for the second capacity building workshop for assessing inequalities in civil registration in Suva, Fiji from 29 November to 1 December 2022.
