The UNHCR Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam organized the Southeast Asian Senior Officials’ Roundtable on Civil Registration, Legal Identity Documentation, and the Prevention of Statelessness. The participants discussed the connection between ending statelessness and poverty reduction, and the full implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The event was attended by government representatives of Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Civil society organizations and academics working on the issue were also at the event.

The 'Third roundtable on legal identity and Statelessness in Cambodia' was held on 14th December 2023 in Phnom Penh. The roundtable was hosted by the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, Cambodia Program and Women Peace Makers.
