    The Ministerial Declaration on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific emphasizes the need to address CRVS inequalities among hard-to-reach and marginalized populations, promoting universality and equity in civil registration regardless of factors such as gender, religion, or ethnicity. Countries are encouraged to conduct assessments to assess where such inequalities may exist.

Handbook of Vital Statistics Systems and Methods, Vol. I Legal, Organization and Technical Aspects

This Handbook supersedes the Handbook of Vital Statistics Methods published by the United Nations in 1955. It provides up-to-date guidance to countries to implement international recommendations adopted by the United Nations on vital statistics systems. Volume I addresses issues involved in running comprehensive civil registration and vital statistics systems and their coordination.

Handbook for doctors on cause-of-death certification

This capacity-building tool has been produced by the Health Information Systems Knowledge Hub of the School of Population Health at the University of Queensland. This handbook aims to guide doctors in filling out death certificates. This handbook is designed to be a readily accessible resource that doctors can consult rapidly and easily. These are generic guidelines about how to certify the cause of death, written for doctors and medical students, particularly in developing countries.

Guidelines for Conducting Comprehensive Assessments of National CRVS Systems in Africa

These Guidelines have been prepared to assist African countries in undertaking a comprehensive assessment of their Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems and in the development of a national CRVS strategic plan. The guidelines are organized into two volumes: The first volume (presented on this document) provides specific steps for assessing a national CRVS system in Africa, sets out the range of options for organizing the exercise, as well as specific issues for investigation.

Global Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Scaling up Investment Plan 2015-2030

The Global Plan for Scaling-up Civil Registration and Vital Statistics covers activities over a 10 year period from 2015 to 2024, with the goal of universal civil registration of births, deaths, marriages, and other vital events, including reporting cause of death, and access to legal proof of registration for all individuals by 2030.

Facilitators’ Strategic Planning Guide for CRVS

This guide has been designed for facilitators to use as a tool to assist country’s teams in the compilation of strategic plans and work programmes needed in the process of developing and implementing Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems in Africa, in accordance with the framework laid out in the African Programme on Accelerated Improvement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (APAI-CRVS). The guide is based on the document on strategic planning: Strategic Planning Guide for CRVS.

eVitals Standards initiative to enable interoperable electronic data exchanges

CDC/NCHS is providing support and has been collaborating with the National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS) and other VR stakeholders to support the eVital Standards Initiative with the goal of providing support for the development of VR standards to enable interoperable electronic data exchanges among electronic health record systems, U.S. vital records systems and potentially other public health information systems for birth, death and fetal death events

Every newborn an action plan to end preventable deaths

The Every Newborn action plan was developed in response to country demand. It sets out a clear vision of how to improve newborn health and prevent stillbirths by 2035. The plan builds on the United Nations Secretary General’s Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health and the Every Woman Every Child movement by supporting government leadership and providing guidance on how to strengthen newborn health components in existing health sector plans and strategies, especially those that relate to reproductive, maternal and child health.

Documenting medical records -A handbook for doctors

This handbook has been developed to provide doctors and medical students with guidelines on documenting medical records to the required level of quality, as defined by the Royal College of Physicians (2009) and the World Health Organization (2006).The handbook is aimed primarily at junior doctors whose first language is not English, especially those in Sri Lanka and the Asia Pacific region

Dictionary for Civil Registration and Identification

This dictionary aims to broaden the understanding of the concepts and terms pertaining to civil registration and identification, and thus contribute in a small way to accurate and concise communication in this area. This dictionary is an attempt to develop a common understanding of existing terminology and terms that have not been described anywhere else by combining them all in one document.
