Inter-American Week on Identity

The event is organized by the Organization of American States, UNICEF, the Inter-American Development Bank, Plan International and Mexico’s National Register of Population and Personal Identification. Global experts, civil registry authorities from 26 countries, as well as members of the civil society will participate in the event and analyze strategies to achieve universal birth registration in the Americas by 2030, innovations in births registration, and the link between birth registration and access to social services among other subjects.

Fourth Conference of African Ministers Responsible for Civil Registration

The African Union Commission, in collaboration with ECA, AfDB and other partners, is organizing the Fourth Conference of Ministers Responsible for Civil Registration, in Nouakchott, Mauritania, on the theme: ‘Accelerating a coordinated improvement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) for implementation and monitoring development in Africa: Review of progress and the way forward’. The meeting will be preceded by an Expert Group Meeting

ESCAP Resolution 69/15 (2013) Implementing the outcome of the High-level Meeting on the Improvement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific

This resolution calls for ESCAP to convene a regional intergovernmental ministerial meeting on CRVS in 2014. In addition, among other things, the resolution reiterates the call for countries to conduct assessments of CRVS systems, supports the Committee on Statistics’ endorsement of the Regional Strategic Plan for the Improvement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in the Asia and the Pacific, and requests ESCAP to establish a regional steering group on CRVS.

Regional Action Framework on civil registration and vital statistics in Asia and the Pacific

Through Commission resolution 69/15, countries in Asia and the Pacific requested that further regional action be taken to support the improvement of civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems. The regional action framework responds to that request as a catalyst for Governments and development partners to focus and accelerate their efforts to realize a shared vision and the three CRVS goals outlined in this document during the proposed civil registration and vital statistics decade for Asia and the Pacific (2015 to 2024).
